Nobody gave the Dallas Mavericks much of a chance to beat the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals. Most analysts thought that the trio of Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh would overwhelm the heat. The Mavericks don't have three superstars, but they had heart. They played like a team, and have two future Hall of Famers in Dirk Nowitzki, and Jason Kidd.
Even with the Mavs up 3 games to 2, most experts still weren't believers considering the remaining games were to be played in Miami. The Mavericks didn't need (or want) to play the seventh game. They came out in game six and took care of business.
The loss to the Heat in the 2006 Finals have lingered in the thoughts of Dirk Nowitzki for the past 5 seasons. To finally win an NBA Championship meant so much for him, the fans, and even their passionate and eccentric coach Mark Cuban.
